Active transport data is crucial for securing capital and operational funding
for new infrastructure projects that support global emission targets, the quest for more livable cities, and the pursuit of better health outcomes.
High quality, complete data deliver real-life evidence for investment, informing us how much space we allocate to each mode and what to build.
Collecting active transport data is complex.
Our low power Count Pod sensor and unique software creates
new solutions to solve a variety of common problems that
traditional technology can’t deliver…
Accurate micro-mobility insights provides data to support capital infrastructure projects and operational programmes to support pedestrian and cyclist growth.
Count Central is a cloud platform that lets you visualise and explore your data via a range of maps, charts and tables, in a configurable dashboard. Integrations include weather data and emissions calculations. API available for enterprise data warehouse integration. Explore your data anytime, from anywhere in the world.
Our sensors deliver a variety of unique features other systems can’t.
We ensure continuous sensor accuracy with daily image checks and proactive maintenance
Countculture is a micro-mobility monitoring system that combines advanced low power edge AI sensors, cloud-based datamart, API and dashboards, to provide near real-time and historical data on pedestrians and micro-mobility devices.
The system represents over 25 years of applied investment in proven computer vision techniques and modern AI approaches, to deliver people, micro-mobility and vehicle insights, to government and private sector organisations.
Countculture developed the world’s first people counting system utilising computervision and has deployed thousands of sensors globally.
Our Countculture low-powerAI system solves many common counting problems that neural work systems can't.
This addresses a large number of accuracy problems commonly encountered with alternative neural network systems. These include variable lighting conditions, shadowing, classification of modes, sensor mounting heights and people sizes, high traffic volumes and people loitering or pausing in a count zone.

Count Pods can be powered by solar (15 days of no sun operation)
or recharged off the street lighting network overnight. This allows the system to be installed at over 75% less cost than neural network AI sensors if no daytime power is available.
The system tracks an object’s full trajectory within the sensor’s field of view. The object is counted and classified as it moves in through the counting zone; multiple counting zones can be drawn within the field of view from one sensor.
Classified Counts
The system has been trained for pedestrian and micro-mobility device classification, including pedestrians, groups of pedestrians, number of people within a group, bikes, E-scooters, (public & private) and on-road vehicles.
The system provides the average speed of each device as it moves through a counting zone. This data includes safety insights for cyclists and E-scooters interacting with pedestrians across shared spaces.
Zone Population
The system has highly accurate zone population capability to provide data on the population of micro-mobility users within a zone.
Count Once
In some locations where counts are needed, repeated back and forward movement can generate over counting. Careful sensor placement nad multiple crossing elimination (MXE) can prevent the back and forward movement from generating extra counts.
During the sensor setup phase Countculture remotely collects video that is analysed through a software observed, and physical count. The system is tuned until our accuracy standard is 98% with 100 counts. This ensures clients have confidence in the data to make significant business decisions relating to their cities.
Proactive Maintenance
We monitor proactively, troubleshoot, and correct sensor issues caused by environmental conditions at sites before problems occur. We provide the most comprehensive monitoring support available on the market.
Daily Image Checks
We collect images from each sensor daily and perform checks for environmental changes that may effect sensor accuracy. Our support team is alerted to rectify any issue before count accuracy is impacted.
Data Back Filling
If a sensor loses connection due to power being turned off or a hardware failure, Countculture support will be alerted to troubleshoot the issue. A data backfill will ensure the reporting is accurate.
